While not proven to be Dracula's actual residence, the Gothic fortress has earned its reputation as one of the world's most haunted castles. Built in 1377, Bran Castle has a rich history. It served various purposes throughout the centuries, from a military fortress to a royal residence. However, it wasn't until the 20th century that it became associated with Bram Stoker's fictional character, Count Dracula. Vlad the Impaler, a 15th-century ruler known for his brutal methods, is often linked to the Dracula myth. While Vlad never lived in Bran Castle, his brief captivity there adds to the castle's mysterious aura. The association with Dracula's story has turned Bran Castle into a symbol of the vampire legend.
