The Ottoman Empire, once a powerful force during the Middle Ages, exhibited a dark side during its long reign. One of the most chilling episodes occurred in 1822 during the Greek War of Independence when Istanbul orchestrated a brutal massacre on the serene island of Chios.

Tragically, an estimated 52,000 Greek inhabitants fell victim to this atrocity, forever staining the pages of history with bloodshed.
