Did you know that for almost three decades, from 1969 to 1997, Christmas celebrations were banned in Cuba under Fidel Castro's government?
In 1969, the Cuban government restricted the observance of Christmas due to its clash with the crucial sugar harvest, a pivotal period for the country's economy. This prohibition meant that the joyous festivities and traditional merriment typically associated with Christmas were put on hold, leaving Cuban citizens without the customary December celebrations.
However, amid this ban, an intriguing workaround emerged.
